Double Loop in Loop Teardrop Earrings

Double Loop in Loop Teardrop Earrings

These earrings were made using a technique called Loop in Loop, which predates chainmaille and dates back nearly 5000 years. This was the predominant type of chain the Ancient Romans used. The specific weave used for this chain is called double loop in loop, which means that each ring is woven into the two previous rings.

There are over 50 links woven into these earrings. Each of the links is formed into a circle, fused into a closed loop, shaped, and then these closed loops are woven into the chain.

The chain surrounds a sparkling cubic zirconia, which is a manmade stone often used as an economical substitute for the diamond.

The sterling silver earwires are handmade, and the earrings are 1-3/4 inches long.
