A cairn is a pile of rocks created to mark a location or memorial. The act of adding a small stone to a cairn, especially on a hilltop, is a deep-rooted Scottish tradition that signifies respect.

Hikers will create cairns on a trail to let other hikers know which is the correct path to follow. My son is an avid hiker, completing the entire Appalachian Trail as well as many other trails, and I am so grateful to everyone who helped lay the path before him.

This pendant was hand engraved and is 16 mm in diameter. It comes on an 18-inch sterling silver chain, finished with a lobster clasp. Chain styles may vary slightly.
