My husband started beekeeping a number of years ago and has become fascinated with the bees. While I’m not a fan when they’re up close and personal, I do enjoy learning about them. Their social structure is just amazing.

This is one of my most favorite pieces, one where all of the pieces just came together in near perfection.

This pendant was created entirely by hand with the ancient sculpting techniques of chasing and repousse, using small, specialized tools and thousands of hammer blows to push and form the metal, either from the front of the piece to add texture and detail (chasing) or from behind to create depth (repousse). This work is done free hand, beginning with a flat sheet of metal, and no molds, stamps or machines are used in the process, making each piece truly one of a kind.

This pendant comes on a 21-inch handmade chain featuring small honeycomb links. The pendant is permanently affixed to the chain.

The pendant and chain are sterling silver, and the chain is finished with a handmade sister hook clasp, one of the most secure type of hook. There are 24K gold accents in some of the cells, and a hand-sawn honeycomb pattern on the back of the piece.
