Marigold Ring Keeper Locket

Marigold Ring Keeper Locket

Marigolds make a beautiful addition to any summer or autumn garden, and they are wonderful companion plants, known to repel microscopic worms in the soil.

A locket similar to this one was originally made for a family member who lost her husband way too early. She wanted to be able to keep her wedding ring with her but not have to wear it. The idea was so popular when I shared it, that I knew I needed to make another to add to this collection. This locket will securely hold a ring (must be 10 mm or less in width). The clasp on the locket will hold it tight, but there is additional security in the way the chain runs through the bails, holding the locket closed.

This flower was created entirely by hand with the ancient sculpting techniques of chasing and repousse, using small, specialized tools and thousands of hammer blows to push and form the metal, either from the front of the piece to add texture and detail (chasing) or from behind to create depth (repousse). This work is done free hand, beginning with a flat sheet of metal, and no molds, stamps or machines are used in the process, making each piece truly one of a kind.

This sterling silver locket is approximately 2 inches tall and 1.5 inches wide. The chain is handmade and is 28 inches long.
