Violet Ring

Violet Ring

$350.00

The violet is the birth flower of February, and it often is found to symbolize modesty. It has also been seen in religious works of art to depict spiritual wisdom, faithfulness and humility. There are many different varieties that can be seen growing wild, and the cultivation of true violets dates back to at least 500 B.C. They were not only ornamental flowers, but also used for flavoring and medicinal applications. These colorful little flowers are indiginous to the temperate regions in the Northern Hemisphere and bloom from spring through summer.

This ring was created entirely by hand with the ancient sculpting techniques of chasing and repousse, using small, specialized tools and thousands of hammer blows to push and form the metal, either from the front of the piece to add texture and detail (chasing) or from behind to create depth (repousse). This work is done free hand, beginning with a flat sheet of metal, and no molds, stamps or machines are used in the process, making each piece truly one of a kind.

This sterling silver violet has 18K gold accents encircling a yellow Montana sapphire. The ring fits a US size 7.
