Sunflower Pendant

Sunflower Pendant

$250.00

I’ll never forget the first time I remember driving past a field of sunflowers, all turned toward the sun! My mom and I were taking a trip, driving to Alberta, Canada, and we had taken a longer scenic route through Canada. The field was absolutely gorgeous!

This beautiful pendant was created entirely by hand, using an ancient sculpting techniques of chasing and repousse. These technique use small, specialized tools and thousands of hammer blows to push and form the metal, either from the front of the piece to add texture and detail (chasing) or from behind to create depth (repousse). This work is done free hand, beginning with a flat sheet of metal, and no molds, stamps or machines are used in the process, making each piece truly one of a kind.

This pendant is hollow, and on the back of the piece there is a cut out silhouette of a sunflower, offering a glimpse of the hammer marks from the repousse on the back of the piece.

This sterling silver pendant is approximately 1 inch in diameter and comes on an 18 inch sterling silver snake chain, finished with a lobster clasp.
