Violet Ring with Simulated Amethyst

As I’ve been working through my JTS program and learning engraving, I’ve been giving a lot of thought as to what direction I’m going to take my work. I’ve known for a while now that I will be focusing much more on rings and and smaller pieces. The ironic thing is, this is coming from someone who said they would never be interested in making rings. Yep. Never say never. Seems to be a common theme.

I had the idea that I would like to create a jewelry set (ring, earrings and pendant) for each month, featuring the flower and birthstone of that month. This is the first piece in this new series. Next up will be the earrings and pendant to match, then we’ll see where things take me.

My pieces generally take on a life of their own once I begin, and this one begged for engraving on the ring band. I really love the depth that it adds to the piece, and know that there will more of this in future products. I just love when ideas and techniques come together so organically, like they are just meant to be!

I have a long way to go with engraving, but I’m really excited that I can use some of it in my work now. It’s been a year and a half of practice and learning just to get to this point. Can’t wait to see what comes in the future!

This ring is a size 6 and is available in my shop. If you’re interested this ring in a different size or with a different stone, please feel free to contact me and I’ll be happy to work with you.
